Freeman Jr. had to retire on Tuesday 10 March, after being appointed by President Barack Obama to take over the National Security Council, official agency that oversees the intelligence reporting that they represent the views of the 16 security agencies of the United States. Before leaving, Freeman stated that “slanderous attack with distortions about my background…indicate with reasonable certainty that there is a powerful lobby that is determined not to allow the disclosure of any view other than their own or, much less, allow a thorough understanding of Americans on trends and events in the Middle East. "
Referring directly to “Israel lobby”, Freeman added that “The aim of this lobby is controlling the process of generating government policies through the exercise of veto power over the appointment of any person who questions the wisdom of their own views. & #8221; One result is “American public's inability to discuss, and the U.S. government to consider, any option in U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East to oppose the wishes of the ruling political leadership in Israel ".
